What a Horror Fan Burns While Watching: HALLOWEEN (1978)

The Shape does not hurry. That is the whole terror of John Carpenter’s masterpiece — Michael Myers walks while everyone else runs, and he still catches them. A white mask, a kitchen knife, and the patience of something that is not human anymore.

Laurie Strode did everything right. She screamed, she fought, she stabbed him with a knitting needle and a coat hanger. And he kept getting up. The final shot — the empty lawn, the breathing on the soundtrack — tells you the boogeyman does not die. He just waits for the next October.

What we are burning: The Ares Oil Candle.

Burn it for: the evil that walks on two legs. Red as the god of war, for the films where the monster does not need to run — because it already knows how this ends.

Evil does not die. It just changes masks. Light something red and sit with that.
